Tee-Pee Play Tent

Fighting the winter boredom blues with your kids? Bring the outdoor fun indoors by transforming the playroom into the great outdoors with a fun play tent!

Inspire creative and imaginative play with your kids as they camp-out for hours in their own special space.  Just a quick trip to Haberman Fabrics and the hardware store will get you on your way for this simple one-day project.

We have crafted this tee-pee tent using Butterick #4251 view B. Tamara created this model using a solid natural colored canvas.  Any heavy-weight woven fabric, like denim or upholstery fabric would be good choices.  We used a sheer fabric for the door, and thought it would be cute with a sheer fabric for a window in the back or sides. Make it extra special by adding embellishments like buttons, fringe, ribbons and trim.

The dimensions for this finished tee-pee from the pattern is 80" high by 72" diameter at the base.  However, Tamara made it shorter, to stand 55" tall by 62" wide.  She did this by omitting the extension pattern piece for the walls.

Besides fabric, ribbon and decorative embellishments, other supplies you will need are 1" PVC pipe (ours have been painted) and large wooden beads with large holes.

This play tent is easy to move and store away without having to disassemble it.  The kids will also enjoy it in the real great outdoors when summer comes!
